The most memorable thing that happened this week had to be in Dr. C's class. We had an awesome discussion after watching the beginning of the Mayweather vs Oscar De La Hoy fight. The video showed us how Mayweather and De La Hoya entered the arena and Dr. C had us right down all signifiers we could find and next to it write whatever it signified. I choose to look at it in a very different I wrote down all the signifiers that caught my attention and wrote down (without any interpretation of what it could have been seen as at the moment) what the object or thing by itself meant to me. When we discussed it aloud and everyone shared what they thought the signifiers meant. I felt like everyone thought he was mocking or making fun of the objects he wore. So it was really interesting comparing what I wrote and thought vs. what almost everyone else had in mind.

For this week I perceived that the major purpose of class was to prepare most of the seniors for the SAT, since a good chunk of the seniors are taking the SAT this Saturday. Even though I'm not taking the SAT until November, it still is so helpful, and I will have all these amazing packets to study off from to prepare myself. Another thing I consider to be a great way to prepare for the SAT is the 20 minutes we've been getting in the beginning of every class. I usually tend to get really tired once I begin to read but reading in the beginning of class is slowly starting to help me. I'm starting to focus on reading and slowly not getting as tired anymore, it will be a work in progress but I know it will benefit so much not just for the SAT but also for when I go off to college.

Lastly, the most surprising idea discussed in class this week was in art. I wouldn't of thought to read such a complicated but interesting article in art. It really surprised me to read something so different, it's definitley something I would have never picked by myself. As much as I struggled to read it I found it very interesting, and like Chikle said " if it was hard, that's how you know your learning new things". Which is so true I did learn a lot, and I read somethings that I already knew but didn't think anyone else would have ever agreed on with me. My favorite line out of the whole reading was ", the sight of this man on his hands and knees, pleading for money for food, would have resulted in a feast. And even had people given him money charity does not end poverty.".
