End of semester conversation:
Here you will read on what I believe I've grown in this year and how I believe I grown in those areas by providing either picture evidence or by explaining it through my writing.
Content area goals:
I believe that I have grown in my Pure Data Knowledge, I believe this because I know how the features in my patch work and I understand why they go together. Also I know what the specific modules are called and what they do, I also understand how my patch would not work without it. I think I meet expectations because I tried my hardest to understand Pure Data and how it works to the best of my knowledge but there is still somewhat that I don’t understand, that I think with a little more practice and a push from myself I would've gotten a lot better with the program. But I do think that the little things I learned from the program I learned them well enough to be able to properly explain what I personally know to someone else. So I’m proud of myself for being able to do that, because I know when I’m able to do that I understand what I’m doing really well. Like for example in the patch below I know that to insert the sound you want into it, you have to click on open and then insert the song you want. Then with the green volume module to the right is how you adjust the volume of the song, and to adjust the speed you’d mess with the Loop_speed. Other simple things you could say about this module is; I think are obvious but the to stop the song, you would press on stop, and to restart the sound you would press on restart. |
Cross Disciplinary Goals:
I believe for this section I’ve grown in all three areas a lot. I’ve worked with people I would have never expected to work with in my 4 years of high school before, and to my surprise the work I’ve created with them has been really good, almost better than anything I’ve done before. Like it says in the collaboration description I’ve learned more than once this year that collaboration is more than just team work, it's working together and making sure everyone's ideas are heard and genuinely put into consideration, and if one’s idea as a whole doesn’t work best with the final product were trying to make then picking out the best parts of it and using that. For the responsibility section of this, I have been a lot more responsible when it comes with deadlines, and even participating in general, even when I don’t understand a lot of the content being explored. Lastly with social and emotional health, I have formed so many new friendships this year that have been so beneficial to me in engineering to help me understand things when I have no idea what's going on in class. I believe I have meet and close to exceeded the criteria in the table, and as much as I would love to have pictures as evidence for this section I do think this is something that’s difficult to have physical evidence off, and more of something you’d either have to see with your own eyes or something you’d have to hear about in detail.

Self-Identified Goals:
A personal goal I have identified for this class has been the same one as I started with in the beginning of the semester when I found out we would be working with computers, and that was to become comfortable with computers. I can honestly say I’m near to completely accomplishing my goal. I am at a point right now where all I need is to keep practicing messing around with computers to be 100% comfortable with them. Right now I think I’m at a 85% with how comfortable I am with a computer and to me that's a huge change because at the beginning of the year I felt like at a 35% with my comfort level with computers. In the beginning of this semester I didn’t even know how to securely save a document into my computer under my files. Then I was thrown into Pure Data and VSXu and expected to know to how to use to the best of my ability at least one of the two. I choose pure data thinking it’d be easier, and while it had it’s perks it wasn’t easy right away. They were actually both equally as hard the only difference I learned was Pure Data was more straightforward. Playing around with pure data, and asking the right people for help I learned a lot about how it worked and it was actually fun. I think again I’m in the middle of meet and exceeded expectations for this section, because I surprised myself and I learned that no matter what it is I can do whatever I set my mind to. Again I would love to show physical evidence for this but I think the only physical evidence I could provide for this the pure data patch I worked with which I have already provided above, and also I think this section is something you would have had to experience with me in the moment of to truly understand how much I’ve grown with my original goal.
