Sci-Fi Project
For our project, we wrote short stories about science fiction. We watched science fiction movies viewed and how to make it run smoothly in our story. We read different science fiction stories to see and get a good feel of how authors write the stories and how they make them flow. After writing our stories we would get in critiqued by our peers, the critique process was great because our partners wouldn't just read our stories by themselves, they would read them out loud to us and if they didn't make sense we would be able to hear it too. We had to make sure our stories incorporated real science while still being fiction.
This is my big idea graphic organizer if you would like to see my thought process along the way.
This is my World-building graphic organizer if you would like to see what my world in my story looked like. This is the research I did for my story to make sure everything was accurate. This is my logic leaps graphic organizer in case you would like to see how that went. Here is my down draft. Here is my final draft. Pandora's bookThe first day I started this project, I literally sat by my computer for an hour, because I had absolutely no idea at all what to write my story about. Science fiction is cool but not something that's easy for me to write about. In the beginning I wanted to write about dreams and what would happen if they became your reality? It was a lot more difficult than I thought to write about that, so after a lot of thinking I changed my story from that to time travel. The story outline part was simple but incorporating accurate science into a fiction short story was a bit hard. The funnest part about writing my story was being able to freely write my story however I want as long is it is accurate. I added a lot of detail about Jane's past and how the crew will help her go back in time to mend things with her dad. In my future writing pieces I will get my writing critiqued by peers and have them read it to me aloud to actually hear my mistakes.

Four weeks later ...Next time I write a short story or anything for that matter, something I want to do again is have my story or writing read to me by someone else because it's a lot easier to hear my errors that way.
I wish I would have thought out my story more and gone more in depth with the Science portion of it. I think I didn't go that much in depth because I changed my story last minute, so next time I will plan out my story a lot more and do more research. |
