THE BOOK OF US
Everyone in my class wrote a non-fiction piece about something that matters to them. We will be collecting all our writing in an anthology, publishing it, and launching it with a reading on Wednesday, March 25th at Festival del Sol.
When my teacher, Dr. P first introduced the project I had no idea whatsoever about what I wanted my piece to be on. It took about a week to pick something, and even when I finally picked my topic I was still indecisive about it. Once I knew what I wanted to write about I was like alright this is it, my piece is gonna be on music and how it shaped me to be the person I am today. My ideas changed while going from my first draft to my last a lot, my first draft was very short and didn't go into any detail and to be honest it was really boring, as people critiqued my piece I started to add more detail, and it actually became a story. The feedback I got on my first few drafts like I stated above was awesome! It really got me thinking, and helped me figure what I needed to add and what I should take out. Something I did in this project that I plan on continuing to do, is definitely the critiquing, because it was super helpful. One thing I would change about my piece is, I would add a little bit of negative things people say about the genre of music I prefer to listen to and then over throw it by adding all the positive it brings to your life.
