For the XONR8 Theater project we worked in groups of 3-4 people, we wrote and preformed verbatim plays based on interviews about crime, punishment, and innocence. In this project we didn't just learn about history and watch plays, we turned into historians, playwrights, and actors, telling stories that have not been told before, and helping audiences to see the world we live in from unfamiliar perspectives. We preformed our plays at the Onstage Playhouse on 3rd avenue, in downtown Chula Vista.

My first draft of my own outline was very fun to do, because I got to put all my ideas down on paper without anyone telling me what I could and couldn't write. It was my idea of my own draft, I think having a first draft on your own first was a great idea because, like I said you get all your ideas out and then think of ways you would like the play to run through. Then when you sit down with your whole group you all have an idea of how you would like the play to run through and you can collaborate with everyone. You will then all at least have an idea of how the play will look, decide what to use from everyone's ideas, and as a group decide what stays and what gets cut from the play.

My groups first outline draft took a while to finish, because we all had very different ideas of how we wanted the play to come. It took us a pretty good chunk of the work time to finish our first draft, but in the end we finished our draft and all agreed on how we wanted the play to look like. My whole group and I were very happy with how our play turned out to be. It was very different from other plays in our classroom, because everyone wrote their plays in direct verbatim to their interviews which was cool, but since everyone was doing the same thing we wanted ours to be a little different. So in the end our play was still in direct verbatim but we tired our hardest to turn into a story instead of a interview.

My big moment, I was sitting alone didn't really know where the rest of my group members were, but I was really focused and determined to get an email back from one of the lawyers granting me permission to speak and have an interview with Tim Atkins. I was sitting, I was more than determined because Dr. P told to not get my hopes up and it would be better if I forgot about having a interview with Tim Atkins because speaking to him would be a really hard thing to do, when he told me that it was like someone telling me that I would not be able to do something i set my mind to without even putting the effort to try. So I sat there and thought alright "you will have this interview no matter what because anything is possible with the right mindset and positive attitude!" 10 minutes later i get an email from a lawyer ccing another lawyer asking for permission for me to speak to Tim Atkins (by the way, if you've never heard about Tim Atkins you should look him up he's awesome!!) right there at that moment I was like its happening I'm getting the interview this is awesome!! 2 minutes go by and then i get an email back from both lawyers saying " Hi all, I just talked to Tim and he is interested in talking to you about the play. His number is (***)***-****". At that moment, i knew the play was going to be awesome! Not because i didn't have faith that I wouldn't get interesting things from the lawyers, but because I would have the honor to talk to Tim himself, and that was absolutely awesome, I could not believe it, I was in such shock, but it was an awesome feeling, and from that moment on I know that anything is possible with the right motivation. In this project I contributed a lot, the biggest thing I personally think i brought was my personality, and I'm very proud to say that. I'm proud to say that because I grew a lot in the process in my understanding of things. I learned how to be unbiased and allowed myself to engage into the project 100% and put-forth my best work. I'm most proud of two things, 1. learning how to make decisions off facts and not personal opinions & 2. STOP BEING SO SHY! I was very proud of myself for being able to preform on stage, i found to have enjoyed it a lot, and would definitely do it again. A lesson I learned throughout this whole project is, don't take anything for granted, and never let people tell you what you can and can't do. Anything is possible, be unbiased, & don't be shy!
